Festive Peppermint Hot Chocolate (Day 4)

Happy Day 4! Wow, it's really been a while since I've done daily blogging; I definitely forgot how taxing it is. Props to those who regularly do daily blog posts! Anyhow, if you are new to this blog, I am doing the 25 Days of Christmas series, and if you would like to partake in the giveaway, go ahead and read the rules on my 25 Days of Christmas giveaway blog!

Today I will give you a recipe for my favourite Peppermint Hot Chocolate :) You will need: Chocolate of your choice (I chose Ghiradelli 100% Cacao. Feel free to choose sweeter chocolates) Silk Very Vanilla Soymilk

Peppermint Extract

First, start boiling a cup of the soy milk. I choose Silk Very Vanilla because the taste of vanilla brings out the chocolate taste and adds sweetness without need for extra sugar. You can use milk and sugar and vanilla extract if you want, but I personally don't have a great relationship with dairy, so this is a great alternative for me.

While the soymilk or milk is boiling (make sure it doesn't boil over!), break up pieces of your chocolate in a cup.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 10 second intervals; stir in between microwave nuking sessions so that you can evenly distribute the heat. Your chocolate should end up with a similar consistency to this:

Once it's all melted, add a few drops of peppermint extract. Be careful, because too much can add even more bitterness to your drink.

Stir up your peppermint-chocolate mixture. If necessary, pop it in the microwave for an extra 5 seconds if your soymilk or milk is taking too long to boil. Once it is ready, poor it in and stir!

Lastly, enjoy your chocolate-y festive drink!

I hope you all are able to enjoy this yummy drink with me. In the background, you may see the scarf I've been knitting and my laptop for blogging purposes. These things have been my life in a nutshell, haha. I hope your lives have been a little bit more exciting than mine!
