Happy New Year!

Hello, this is my first post of the new year :) I took the two weeks off so that I can have time for reflecting and setting my goals for the 2019 new year. For me, being able to take this time to think over my year gives me a fresh perspective of what needs to be done in the new year, which in turn makes me able to better understand and achieve my goals.

What a year 2018 was. 2018 was a year of change. I changed location. The people in my life changed, for better or worse. I changed jobs. My dad passed away. I got my real estate license. I lost friends. I've gotten closer to other friends. I found a community.

In my reflection of 2018, the biggest blessing was returning back to California. It's been honestly a long time since I've been back for a good chunk of time, especially back home. I've been living such a nomadic lifestyle that it is nice to have a bit of structure for a change. As an introverted creative with broad interests and wants to run around everywhere at any time, I sometimes forget that I am still a human bean who needs sleep, food, and love. It has been draining for me, and the loneliness was beginning to eat away at me.

My biggest obstacle was in relationships. Whether platonic, familial, or romance, I feel that I've let relationships kind of rule over my emotions. I don't often show my emotions, but my emotions are super overbearing, and they kind of take over my life. It has been a spiritual low for me whenever a relationship went sour; to be honest, it's even been a spiritual low when relationships went well, because my emotions would be reliant on trying to make it keep going well, rather than praising God.

2019... Well, for one, I am starting school. I just started yesterday, in fact. It is.... really scary. I have 5 assignments already due by the end of this week, and I feel so far behind. I am excited to what limits I will be pushed towards, though!

I want this year to be a year of settling down, and strapping myself to a schedule. I do want to move out of my house, but remain in Southern California for a little while. I want to be more organized and take all my commitments seriously. What this means:

Keeping a detailed planner of my school, work, and personal lives Pushing myself to get over that "Ugh, I just want it done and over with" mentality, and reminding myself my mindset should be "I'm going to do the best that I can!"

Being more committed in my relationships, not just responsibilities. Of course, this begins with GOD, and that means reading the Bible and praying more consistently, so that I can know how to reflect a more Christlike image in all my relationships. Which, of course leads to being more intentional with my family, friends, church peeps, and even strangers.

Budgeting wisely. School refund checks, my salary, my side jobs, and any extra funds need to be well tracked, so that I can pay my bills on time AND save up money.

What are some of your goals this year? :) I'd love to hear about it!
