A Hakzai Update

Hello friends,

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support. Since the last update on Hakzai, he has been formally diagnosed with an IBD. His medication came in on Monday, and by Wednesday, he stopped throwing up (praise the Lord!)

He has been more rambunctious and naughty (which are great signs), and has been annoying us for food with constant meows (also a great sign). He hates taking his medicine and has bit me a couple times while I try to feed it to him, as well as his special diet, but it is great to see that it is helping him.

He is currently on a large dose of steroids, and his special diet is to trick his stomach into thinking he is eating something new every time, even though his taste buds know otherwise. His next check up is next Wednesday, and we hope that we can eventually taper him off on steroids, as the large dosage cannot be good for him in the long run :( He will have to be on medication for the rest of his life, and as his body acclimates, they'll eventually have to up the dosage, so hopefully after this initial two-week period, we hope that he can start at a lower dosage.

My partner and I are in active pursuit of new job opportunities, and are thankful to everyone who has contributed to helping us out with Hakzai's vet visits during this time <3 You guys are truly the MVPs.
